Cherokee County Building Maintenance Technician
Assist the Maintenance Supervisor in keeping Cherokee County facilities and grounds in a clean and orderly condition using a working knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and electrical. Knowledge of materials and tools is needed to complete assigned projects.

Cherokee County Tax Assessor
The Tax Assessor plans, organizes, directs, and implements the departmental activities of the Tax Assessorâs Office. Responsible for properly appraising all real estate in the county, except those under the jurisdiction of the South Carolina Department of Revenue.      Â
Qualifications:
- Bachelorâs degree in business or related field, State Certified General Real Estate Appraiser and at least five yearsâ experience in property appraisal; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Thorough knowledge of real estate appraisal principles, techniques, and procedures.
- Experience in supervision of department staff.
- Ad Valorem appraisal experience which includes developing a statistical model for residential properties in compliance with South Carolina Laws and Regulations.
- Experience with computer assisted mass appraisal systems (CAMA).
- Knowledge of South Carolina property tax laws, and regulations that pertain to the Assessorâs Office.

Communications/E911 Director
Cherokee County is looking for a professional, innovative, and qualified candidate to serve as our next Communications / E911 Director. The director is responsible for installing and maintaining emergency radio communications equipment, and for managing radio transmitters, and the installation and maintenance of map and telephone equipment. The director plans, organizes, and manages all activities of personnel engaged in communications operations with all public safety functions, including Fire, Police, Sheriff, EMS, and Emergency Management.
- Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with volunteers, commissions, elected officials, media, and general public.
- Experience in organizational and personnel management, with the ability to effectively supervise and direct the work of others.
- Requires an extensive knowledge of local, state, and national laws and standards as they relate to the field of Emergency Communications.
- Ability to administer and coordinate CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch) system.
- Proficiency in making court appearances as required for matters relating to tapes and records for the department and other emergency service activities.
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a Batchelorâs Degree in a related field of study or 5 years of E911 communications experience.

Emergency Management Coordinator
Cherokee County is seeking a qualified candidate for the Emergency Management Coordinator. Position may require response to emergency incidents or disasters to assist with documentation, coordination or other tasks as needed. Tax Assessor Clerk
Cherokee County is seeking a qualified candidate for a Tax Assessor Clerk. Duties include, but not limited to, assisting the public and others to obtain information related to public records related to property. Answer and route phone calls to appropriate person or office, enter property records for real estate and mobile homes, scan documents and maintain files, handle all mail, and file correspondence related to appeals and other records. Handles rollbacks and transfers that affect property taxes.

Cherokee County Finance Director
Cherokee County is now accepting applications for the position of Finance Director. The Finance Director will plan and direct a number of professional, paraprofessional, and clerical personnel involved in diverse finance-related responsibilities. This full-time position performs various accounting functions, including assisting with budget preparation and oversight of financial reporting, A/P, A/R, payroll, cash management, information technology, debt management, internal reviews of accounting controls and practices, coordination of annual audit and PSC reporting, customer service functions, and assisting with the annual budget as needed.
Qualifications:

- Must have a minimum of 5-7 years Government Finance Experience

Mapping Data Technician
The Cherokee County Assessorâs Office is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Mapping Data Technician. Duties include but are not limited to, searching, reviewing, and processing deeds, plats, and other documents. Also, process land combinations and splits, read and understand deed derivation and descriptions, and create and update records. Must be willing to complete other duties assigned.

Solid Waste Clerk
Cherokee County is seeking a clerk for the Solid Waste Department. The duties will include, but not limited to, answering phones and emails, filing, creating requisitions, general clerical duties, and dealing with the public with problems and concerns.Â

911 Telecommunication Operators

Solid Waste Collections Drivers
Cherokee County is seeking qualified candidates to fill open positions for Solid Waste Collection Drivers. Drivers are responsible for completing daily routes with two collectors to pick up household garbage door to door throughout the County, City of Gaffney and Town of Blacksburg. Must monitor the safety of the crew, perform daily pre and post trip inspections, and report any and all truck maintenance issues.
Qualifications:
- Must have valid CDL Class B license
- Must be able to learn and follow daily routes
- Prefer experience with heavy trucks
- Must successfully complete a drug screen
The beginning hourly rate is $18.00.
Part Time Deputy Coroner
The Cherokee County Coronerâs Office is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Deputy Coroner. The Deputy works under the direction of the Coroner and duties include but not limited to securing crime scenes, collecting evidence and testifying in court. Professionalism, attention to detail and ability to prioritize under stressful situations is a must. Hours worked are dependent upon need which can include nights, weekends and holidays. Ten hours budgeted per week.
Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years of age
