Deputy Director of Voter Registration and Elections of Cherokee County:

Assists Director with the following tasks:

Plans, coordinates and conducts municipal, county, state and federal elections, which includes preparing election calendars; securing polling locations; recruiting, training and supervising poll works; preparing, assembling and distributing voting materials; programming/verifying election computer programs; collecting and counting ballots; reporting ballot totals to appropriate authorities

  • Registers qualified citizens to vote in municipal, primary, general and special elections according to precincts and district lines
  • Processes DSS and DMW applications
  • Process various reports in election system
  • Maintain up-to-date files for voters
  • Selects and trains poll workers and polling location technicians
  • Supervises election night activities and duties.  Performs tabulations of election results.  Performs election audits
  • Knowledge of election laws, ordinances, regulations and statues
  • Requires some week-end and holiday work
  • Drug test
  • Background check
  • B.A. or B.S. degree preferred along with 5 years’ experience working in the election field.  Knowledge of iVotronic voting machines and VREMS election system
  • Certification with SC Election Commission Training Program within 18 months of hire
  • Requires Notary Certificate
  • Must be a Registered Voter in Cherokee County

Full Time/Part-time E-911 Telecommunications Operator


General duties include but are not limited to performing a variety of routine clerical, administrative and technical work in receiving and dispatching routine and emergency information for law enforcement, fire and emergency agencies. 

The following are required qualifications for the position:

  • Must be able to type a minimum of 25 words per minute
  • Be available to work holidays, weekends and nights
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must obtain SC Criminal Justice Academy certification within (6) months of hire
  • Must successfully complete SLED criminal history background check and pre-employment drug screen
