Circuit Solicitor Legal Assistant

 

The Circuit Solicitor’s Office is seeking a qualified applicant for a full-time office job (37.5 hours per week). The duties for the position include answering telephones, data entry, filing, communicating with the public and preparation of legal paperwork.

The Circuit Solicitor’s Office is seeking a qualified applicant for a clerk, in the Cherokee County Worthless Check Unit.  The duties for this position include but not limited to, answering phones, data entry, filing and communicating with the public.

Qualifications:

  • Prefer an Associate’s Degree in Business or five years office experience
  • Must have a Diploma or GED
  • Must successfully complete a SLED criminal history background check and pre-employment drug screen
  • Prefer general knowledge of modern office practices and procedures

Building Inspector:

 

Cherokee County is seeking qualified applicants for a Building Inspector.  Duties include but not limited to performing inspections of commercial and residential construction to ensure compliance with adopted codes and code of ordinances.  Also, assists with plan review.

 

Qualification:

 

  • Must have knowledge of international and national construction codes
  • Preferred ICC Residential or Commercial Combination Inspector certification or have the ability to gain certification within two years
  • Must qualify for and obtain registration with SCLLR as a code enforcement officer for continued employment
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Three years of experience as a building contractor or building inspector or combination of education and experience which provides the skills, knowledge and experience required
  • Computer skills including using standard and customized software applications
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to successfully complete a drug screen and criminal background check

 

This position is a pay grade 13 with a salary range of $29,663 - $39,550.

Information Technology Director

 

Directs, coordinates, and controls the management information system operations of Cherokee County.  Maintains, modifies and updates county computer systems and performs routine administration of the network.  Supervises all IT staff, prepares annual budgets and responsible for selecting and ordering equipment.  Documents policies and procedures for systems and works with switches, firewalls, and internet routers.  Maintains and troubleshoots Duo-Mobile Security System for Advanced Authentication.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in related area and two years’ experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Thorough knowledge of WAN and LAN network systems
  • Must pass SLED Level 4 test for CJIS Certification
  • Prefer experience with Cisco VOIP phone systems, Sourcefire spam and web filter and Symantec Antivirus System
  • Must successfully pass a SLED background check and drug screen
  • Must have a valid driver’s license

 

 

This position is a pay grade 18 with a salary range of $47,772 - $73,249.

Part Time Deputy Coroner:


The Cherokee County Coroner’s Office is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Deputy Coroner.  The Deputy works under the direction of the Coroner and duties include but not limited to securing crime scenes, collecting evidence and testifying in court.  Professionalism, attention to detail and ability to prioritize under stressful situations is a must.  Hours worked are dependent upon need which can include nights, weekends and holidays.  Ten hours budgeted per week.    

Qualifications:

  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Good computer skills (Word and Excel)
  • Good communication skills
  • Prefer experience in death investigations, law enforcement or forensic science
  • Must have valid SC Driver’s License
  • Must successfully pass a drug screen and background check
This position is a grade 11 with a minimum beginning annual salary of $6,130.80.

Part-Time 911 Telecommunication Operators:

 

General duties include but are not limited to performing a variety of routine clerical, administrative and technical work in receiving and dispatching routine and emergency information for law enforcement, fire and emergency agencies.  Twelve hour shifts and schedule includes an eight day break every three weeks for the full time positions.

Qualifications:

  • Prefer  a SC Criminal Justice Academy certificate or able to obtain within (6) months of hire
  • Prefer NCIC and EMD Certification
  • Must successfully complete SLED criminal history background check and pre-employment drug screen
  • Must be able to type a minimum of 25 words per minute
  • Be available to work holidays, weekends and nights
  • High School Diploma or GED

Solid Waste Collections Drivers


Cherokee County is seeking qualified candidates to fill open positions for Solid Waste Collection Drivers.  Drivers are responsible for completing daily routes with two collectors to pick up household garbage door to door throughout the County, City of Gaffney and Town of Blacksburg.  Must monitor the safety of the crew, perform daily pre and post trip inspections, and report any and all truck maintenance issues.

  • Must have valid CDL Class B license
  • Must be able to learn and follow daily routes
  • Prefer experience with heavy trucks
  • Must successfully complete a drug screen

This position is a pay grade 11 with a minimum annual salary of $24,515.00 - $32,868
