Steps to help you when youâve lost your pet:Â Â
- E-mail [email protected] with a photo of your pet and/or a description of your pet along with where he or she was lost. This will allow for the Cherokee County Animal Shelter to be on the look out for a pet matching your petâs description and contact information to get in touch with you if your pet comes to the animal shelter. If you do not have access to e-mail, please call the Cherokee County Animal Shelter to report your lost pet and provide a detailed description of your pet. Â
- Act quickly. If you have access to social media, utilize local groups on Facebook to post that your pet is missing and where your pet is missing from with a photo as well as watch these pages to see if your pet is posted. Â

- Search your neighborhood or the area where your pet was lost and let people know you have a missing pet. You can make flyers to post information about your missing pet with contact information for someone if they find your pet to post around the area your pet went missing. Â
- Call local veterinarian offices or take flyers to their offices to alert them of your missing pet. Â
- Call your petâs name and check any places where they could have become trapped, such as in basements or garages or under vehicles. A lost pet often will hide during the day, so be sure to go out again at night with a flashlight and call for them.Â
- Sometimes a can of food can lure a hungry and scared pet to you.Â
- Watch the found ads. Respond to any that might be close to your petâs description. A week of wandering the streets can make white pets look drab gray, and the adâs description might not exactly fit.Â
- Visit the websites of national locator services such asâŊwww.petfinder.com.Â
- Reach out to PawBoost.com to ensure your pet is posted on their pagesÂ
- Remember that pets with ID tags and microchips are much more likely to find their way back homeÂ
