Kennel Tech
Cherokee County is seeking a Kennel Technician to perform support work assisting with daily operations of the county animal shelter. This position is responsible for assisting with the intake and care of animals, maintaining clean and sanitary kennel conditions, and monitoring animal health and behavior. The Kennel Technician supports shelter operations by handling animals safely, assisting with feeding, cleaning, and disease prevention, and ensuring compliance with shelter policies and applicable regulations. Responsibilities also include maintaining shelter records, assisting with animal transport and veterinary coordination, and providing information and assistance to the public regarding animal services. This position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work in a physically demanding environment, and the ability to handle animals safely and humanely.

Solid Waste Collections Driver
Cherokee County is seeking a Solid Waste Collections Driver to operate sanitation collection vehicles and provide residential solid waste collection services throughout the county. This position is responsible for safely operating commercial sanitation trucks, coordinating with collection staff to complete assigned routes, and ensuring waste is collected efficiently and in accordance with county policies. The driver performs daily vehicle inspections, reports maintenance needs, and assists with cleaning and maintaining sanitation equipment. When not assigned to a collection route, responsibilities include roll cart delivery and repair, quality control inspections, roll cart inventory audits, and other duties that support the Solid Waste Collections Division. This position requires the ability to work safely in outdoor environments, operate commercial vehicles, and provide dependable service to Cherokee County residents.

• Minimum of six (6) months of experience operating CDL vehicles
• Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required
• Experience in sanitation services, public works, or a related field preferred

Cherokee County is seeking a Solid Waste Collector to perform manual labor and support work assisting with solid waste collection services. This position is responsible for collecting household garbage on assigned routes, moving waste carts to collection trucks, and loading refuse into sanitation vehicles in a safe and efficient manner. The Solid Waste Collector supports route operations by assisting drivers with inspections, maintaining cleanliness of work areas, and ensuring proper handling of waste materials. Responsibilities also include assisting with routine maintenance of sanitation equipment and following safety procedures while working in outdoor environments. This position requires the ability to perform physically demanding work and maintain productivity in a fast-paced setting.

Animal Shelter & Rescue Lead Kennel Technician/Supervisor
This is a full-time position responsible for overseeing and assisting in daily cat and dog kennel operations at the Cherokee County Animal Shelter & Rescue. To qualify for this role, you must have a positive attitude and a genuine love for dogs and cats of all shapes and sizes. This role will be performed under limited guidance of the Animal Shelter & Rescue Director and will supervise and assist all kennel technicians within the Animal Shelter & Rescue. Duties will include, but are not limited to: overseeing daily kennel operations, ensuring high standards of cleanliness and animal care, supervising and training kennel staff, monitoring animal health and behavior, communicating with clients and staff professionally, administering medications, and maintaining accurate records. This role requires a great deal of independent thinking and previous experience in a kennel, veterinary, or animal care setting is a must.
- Minimum of 1-2 years prior experience in a kennel, veterinary, or animal care setting
- Strong leadership, communication, and record keeping skills
- Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable handling dogs and cats of any size and temperament
- Must be able to obtain Euthanasia Technician Certification within 8 months of hire

Detention Center Recruit
Telecommunications Operator
The Cherokee County 911 Communications Department is searching for a Telecommunications Operator. Duties include answering and processing 911 emergency, and non-emergency calls. Dispatch law enforcement, fire and EMS response units when appropriate. This position works 12.25 hour shifts on a set schedule, either days or nights.
