The Cherokee County Construction and Demolition (C&D) Landfill opened in the mid-1990s following the closure of the old MSW (Municipal Solid Waste) landfill.
Regular household garbage does not go into the C&D landfill.Â
However, there are containers by the main gate for household trash. There is no fee for drop-off in those containers for Cherokee County residents.
The Transfer Station allows businesses to drop off large amounts of trash, broken pallets, cardboard, debris and other items. The Transfer Station fee is $94.85 per ton.
The C&D Landfill Tipping Fee is $50 per ton. Businesses may drop off construction and demolition items here.
The Cherokee County C&D Landfill does NOT accept any Asbestos Material.
The Cherokee County Landfill assesses fees from businesses bring material onto landfill premises.
These fees for businesses are the following for each type of material:
- Concrete Material $15.00 per ton
- Material Required to enter the C&D Landfill $50.00 with a minimum charge of $50.00
- Decals $10.00 Each
- Limbs/Brush $45.00/Ton Minimum Charge $45.00
- Animal Remains/Carcasses $45.00/Ton Minimum Charge $45.00
The Cherokee County Landfill assesses fees from all users of the landfill for the following materials:
- TV’s/Computer Monitors/Laptops (E-Waste) $10.00 Each
- Waste Tires – Handling Fee (to include retail, wholesale, used tire sale, and personal tires.)
a. For light-duty vehicle tires/semi-truck tires, a $2.00 per tire fee will be assessed or $200.00 per ton
b. For heavy-duty equipment tires, a $5.00 per tire fee will be assessed or $500.00 per ton.
The Convenience Center at the landfill is OPEN during Hours of Operation (Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. & Saturday 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.)

Acceptable items for the C&D landfill:
- Cardboard*
- Large steel
- Tires
- Batteries
- Appliances (including white goods, such as stoves, refrigerators, microwaves, dishwashers)
- Electronics (a $10 fee may apply for electronics)
- Waste Oil
- Yard debris
- Concrete and asphalt
- Metal items such as fencing, wheelbarrows and lawn mowers
*While cardboard is accepted at the landfill, we prefer that you take it to the recycling center.
Note: No hazardous wastes of any kind are accepted at the landfill. The C&D Landfill also does not accept telephone poles or railroad ties.
