How Can You Help?

Some of our favorite involvement at the Cherokee County Animal Shelter is our youth.  Children hold the same innocence and beautiful spirits as our animals do. This involvement can be through class projects, shelter visits, education at school that includes the Cherokee County Animal Shelter and welfare of animals in our county, donated art work, class/grade/school fundraisers that contribute to supplies at the animal shelter, etc.   

As a parent, teacher, principal, etc., if you would like to find a way to involve students at the Cherokee County Animal Shelter, please reach out by calling Kelly Ellis, the animal shelter manager, at 864-487-0161. If you have any specific ideas, please feel free to share those! 

Volunteering 

At this time, we are working diligently to offer more volunteer programs with the Cherokee County Animal Shelter.  Please stay tuned to see what is in store! 

Individual Donations  

The Cherokee County Animal Shelter always welcomes donations from members of our community on a walk-in basis during the hours we are open to the public.   

Monday/Wednesday/Friday 12-4 

Tuesday/Thursday 9-4 

We love blankets and linens, dog/cat food, dog/cat treats, etc.  

There are several ways as a business to sponsor activities at the Cherokee County Animal Shelter.   

The 501(c)(3) organization, The Humane Society of Cherokee County, no longer invests in the operation of the Cherokee County Animal Shelter as it has in the past; however, the Cherokee County Animal Shelter is classified in the tax code as a 170(c)(1) tax deductible organization.  (link the below into the blue text)

A receipt will be provided for each business sponsored donation/project to the Cherokee County Animal Shelter providing the correct tax-deductible language for the contribution to our organization.   

On a larger scale, the Cherokee County Animal Shelter has identified ways our facility can be improved for the purpose of hosting more community involvement and further improving the welfare of the animals at the shelter. Another way that businesses and organizations can contribute to the Cherokee County Animal Shelter is through the sponsorship of animal adoptions and rescue organization placements.  Please let administration know if you are interested in this type of contribution by e-mailing [email protected]
